ADDRESS - 20 Baker St., Meningie SA 5264 PHONE – 0438 370 312 EMAIL - Studio77art@bigpond.com Rosa Merlino was born in Orange in NSW and has been painting for about over twenty Nine years. She has spent the last 25yrs in South Australia with Rosa now living in Meningie for approximately fifteen years. Rosa sells her work all over Australia and overseas. After finding herself unable to work in her previous employment due to illness she decided to concentrate on her art fulltime. Rosa tutored mature age students and ran around 7 classes weekly until December 2011, taking time out to focus on her art practice and studies. Rosa now runs ongoing art class and does workshops as required. Rosa did a mentor-ship with Cam Edser from Goo Roo Animation in stop-motion animation which commenced in February 2016 and ended in December 2016 Last year Rosa started a Artist support movement to stand up for the Murray Darling Basin where she organised artist to run exhibitions right across South Australia through October all called “Source 2 Sea “this event has a mix of Fourteen solo and group exhibition events this year and she is planning to do it again in five states. Rosa has a bachelor of Fine Art and Visual Culture attained through Curtin University WA and a master’s degree in Cross Disciplinary Art and Design from COFA at the University of New South Wales complete in 2014 also a TAE in training and assessment. Vanuatu 16th 20th January 2014. • December 2013 Quick step grant Country Arts SA. • Mentor- ship with artist Yvonne East 2012 grant received from Arts SA and Country Arts. • 2012 Quick response grant Country Arts SA Rosa’s first solo exhibition held at Country Arts Gallery in Port Adelaide ran from the 11th of November 2008 until the 21st of January 2009. The exhibition titled "Life and Death of the Coorong" (land, sand, and water). Then a section of this exhibition was later held in the "Five Ways Exhibition" at the Station Masters Gallery in Strathalbyn SA during February 2009. Final exhibition was then exhibited at the McCormick Centre in Renmark SA in June 2009. Rosa’s works are in oil, acrylic, pastel, ink, cyan-o-type, rust dying, mono printing, and mixed media. Rosa also does installations/ sculptures; ephemeral works, instillation graffiti, found object assemblages, paper making and paper sculpture and often collaborate with her husband Ian Hillam in recycled larger objects such as coffee tables and larger works.
