Assistance sought for Drought stricken Farmer

1 October 2019

Wattle Range Council has been approached by a drought stricken farmer from Condobolin NSW with a herd of approximately 500 Shorthorn cattle. He is currently running the cattle on a former blue gum plantation block across the border in Naracoorte Lucindale Council, however he is rapidly running out of feed.

After exploring a range of options with him that included a request to drove his cattle throughout the Council’s rural road network, we were unable to find a suitable solution for a range of reasons.

Council therefore would now like to call on the local community to see if anyone has any innovative ways that they may be able to help.

If you have any vacant land that needs mowing, spare or old fodder that needs moving, or any ideas that may help out a fellow farmer, please give Gavin Stuckey a call on 0429 952 502 or email him at gdstuckey@bigpond.com
